My son starts 7th grade tomorrow. I’m not sure how that’s possible.
This summer flew by. It always does but this time around it transpired at warp speed.
It seems like only yesterday...
I was picking out his first day of kindergarten outfit.
It seems like only yesterday...
he held my hand as we walked to the bus stop.
It seems like only yesterday...
he spoke in a little boy voice.
It seems like only yesterday...
I was the one he turned to; the one he needed for anything and everything.
Time is a bittersweet gift.
As I reflect on the past and look toward the future, I’m holding on a little tighter to the present moment - because, like the others before it, it’ll soon be gone too.
I’m holding onto hope that my son will need me for many years to come.
And I’m simultaneously holding immense gratitude, love, and pride for the human being he is becoming. I am so grateful to be a witness to his growth and the unfolding of his life.
To parents and kids alike, may this season be full of joy and learning. May you find beauty in the fleeting moments and may they become lasting memories. Here's to new chapters and new beginnings.
