It’s interesting how simple things can immediately elicit a flood of emotions.
For me, it’s the sweet, everyday reminders me of my Mom.
Like the comforting smell of cinnamon rolls baking on a Saturday morning.
A beloved Beatles song playing on the radio.
A Thanksgiving table bedecked with holiday plates and decorations.
A welcoming wreath on the front door.
A glimmering ornament hanging from the Christmas tree.
A familiar scent of perfume wafting in the air.
A well-worn sweater that feels like a warm embrace.
A necklace that shines like a star in the night sky.
A passed down family recipe being enjoyed at dinnertime.
A cherished photo that sits on the mantle.
An old greeting card tucked away in a keepsake box.
Each of these simple gifts carries with it a story, a piece of my heart. They serve as gentle reminders of our close bond and the memories we shared.
As I navigate life without my Mom in it, these things keep me anchored to her – to her beautiful light, her love, and her legacy.
And as I stay connected to her, to these memories, I am inspired to live my life in her reflection. To continue as she would – with love, grace, kindness, joy, and gratitude.
I carry my Mom with me as I create new memories and new experiences, so that in some small way she remains a part of me forevermore, now until the end of time.
