Mom, you took care of Dad for so long.
As his loving and supportive wife, you were always there for him.
Now the tables have turned, and Dad has devoted his life to caring for you.
I think he has discovered a newfound purpose in his life – and that is to be your unwavering provider, advocate, and voice.
He is your fierce protector.
He makes sure your every need is met in Memory Care.
He makes sure the staff are adequately feeding and bathing you.
He makes sure your clothes are washed and your room is clean.
He makes sure your supplies are checked and replenished.
He makes sure you are treated with the upmost care, kindness, and respect.
Because that is exactly what you did for him for 40+ years of your marriage.
It would fill your heart to know he has become a welcome visitor to the Memory Care unit.
In the three years since we moved you, he has visited you almost every day.
He has become a familiar face and a welcome presence among the residents.
Filling the space with his smile and energy. Always ready to offer a greeting, friendly pat on the shoulder, or a quick joke.
Charming everyone with his singing and dance moves.
It would fill your heart to know that the highlight of Dad’s day is when he visits you. He just wants to be in your presence and to bask in the beautiful warmth and comfort of your spirit.
You fill the space in his heart that no one else can.
I believe this is his way of thanking you for all the years you took care of him. For all the unwavering dedication, support, and love you showed him.
You are the love of his life and there is not a day that goes by where he does not thank his lucky stars you said yes to be his wife all those years ago.
Until the very end he remains devoted to you, and I hope there is a part of you deep down that recognizes or feels this in some way - I hope it fulfills you with boundless peace and joy.
