Mom, you had a natural gift for bringing people together and creating meaningful, lasting bonds. You made others feel seen and heard, offering them comfort and safety in your presence—a space to be their true selves.
The word ‘stranger’ never existed in your world, and to this day that rings true. Even in the throes of Alzheimer’s, your soul still recognizes when others need comfort and compassion - and true to who you are, you are there to provide it.
Like the patches of a beautiful quilt, you embraced everyone who crossed your path, weaving together a vibrant community of friends from all walks of life. This community you wove, Mom, they remember you with deep love and fondness. They share memories of you—some from decades ago—and yet, after all this time, they recall how you made them feel.
Isn’t that a testament to your beautiful legacy? Isn’t that a testament to how you lived your life? With deep kindness, compassion, fairness, and authenticity. You made such an indelible impact on other’s lives. Your gift of connection transcends time and memory - a beautiful reminder of the impact one person can make.
So, if you ever questioned what you meant to others, I will tell you again and again as long as I have the opportunity to. While my words may no longer carry meaning as I share them with you, I hope you feel the love and gratitude from a community who forever hold you in their hearts.
